There are two obvious questions: Why has Zynga shut down Street Racing, and could it have gone about the process of shutting down the game in a manner less calculated to offend its fans? Why has Zynga shutting down Street Racing? To put that into context, it’s one of Zynga’s smaller titles (see table) and is less than 2% the size of Zynga’s #5 title (Mafia Wars). It currently has 419,078 MAUs (according to AppData), down from a peak of 3,037,357, a decline of 86%. It’s not one of Zynga’s most popular titles. Yesterday Zynga decided to close down Street Racing.
I would say normal service will resume next week, but since this is my first column, you’ll just have to come back next week to see what a normal column looks like.
